JOB SUMMARY:
The Merchandiser is responsible for executing Category directives globally. He or she is the liaison among Brand Product Development team, US Sourcing team and in-country offices, managing seasonal developments and key communications. He or she works in conjunction with Brand PD team, US sourcing team and in-country office to support Brand needs. Communicate and collaborate closely with Brand PD team, US Sourcing team and in-country teams is a must.
Note that this position is location in Vizela/Portugal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Product & Fabric Development
- Work with Brand PD team and US Sourcing team on all development details, if required
- Work with Sourcing Manager and in-country team to allocate right product/fabric with right vendor/mill at right cost
- Establish Time & Action Calendar for each program
- Ensure on-time delivery and product quality
- Follow up & track on weekly progress by ensuring in-country teams update the trackers timely
- Do quality controls in factory when needed
2. Vendor performance
- Partner with in-country team to establish strategic vendor development for long term business growth
- Troubleshoot production and delivery problems, where is needed.
- Evaluate and monitor the performance of vendor base
- Support, facilitate and drive aligned global vendor landscape
3. Sourcing
- Source new products/vendors via trade shows or available resources
- Understand capabilities of our vendors
- Support speed to market
- Risk mitigation in supporting Brands business
- Prepare & publish monthly status reporting to Brand Sourcing Support Department with other assigned duties
JOB COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCES
Knowledge
The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Minimum 2 years of regional sourcing and product development
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing process in textile & apparel or home furnishing products
Skills
The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills:
- proficiency in MS Office, E.g. Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Words
- ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- analytical and problem-solving skills
- good interpersonal skills
- good communication and negotiation skills
Requirements
- Meticulous, detail oriented with high accuracy working on large volume of data
- Fast learner with initiative and Independent
- Professionally fluent English in writing and speaking
