Mapped is an AI-powered data platform for commercial and industrial spaces that helps property owners, facility operators, and solution providers to rapidly access real-time data from building systems, sensors, devices, and vendor APIs by automating the data discovery, extraction, and normalization process. Mapped uses machine learning to abstract the complexities of data integration to create an independent data layer with an open-source data model.
About the role
As a member of the Mapped SRE team, you will be responsible for all core services powering our infrastructure, data pipelines, and AI model training workflows. This is a senior role reporting directly to the CTO.
What you'll do
- Automate management, scaling, and monitoring of core infrastructure and data services.
- Develop internal tools for Mapped engineers, enabling them to ship customer-facing features confidently multiple times a day.
- Ensure end-to-end security and continuous SOC2 and PCI compliance.
- Balance cost versus implementation speed. Find ways to reduce operational overhead without impacting users.
- Recommend new technologies and identify opportunities to consolidate or collapse the tech stack.
- Be an advocate. Speak at local conferences or meetups on various topics.
Qualifications
- ArgoCD is a plus.
- IaC experience; Pulumi preferred but other IaC tools are acceptable.
- GitOps experience.
- Experience with GitHub Actions, SSH, RBAC.
- Basic networking knowledge: TCP/IP, CIDR, Layer 7 Routing (HTTP, gRPC).
- Proficient in TypeScript. Familiarity with Go and Python is a major plus.
- Experience with VNet, AKS, Storage Accounts.
- Data Management: MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch.
Location
This is a hybrid position based in Lisbon, Portugal. We expect you to be in the office 2-3 days per week, but this is flexible to accommodate life circumstances. We aim to foster an engaging office culture at our Lumiar location.

- Salary range from €60,000 to €80,000 plus stock options
