Veeva Systems is a mission-driven organization and pioneer in industry cloud, helping life sciences companies bring therapies to patients faster. As one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in history, we surpassed $2B in revenue in our last fiscal year with extensive growth potential ahead.

At the heart of Veeva are our values: Do the Right Thing, Customer Success, Employee Success, and Speed. We're not just any public company – we made history in 2021 by becoming a public benefit corporation (PBC), legally bound to balancing the interests of customers, employees, society, and investors.

As a Work Anywhere company, we support your flexibility to work from home or in the office, so you can thrive in your ideal environment.

Join us in transforming the life sciences industry, committed to making a positive impact on its customers, employees, and communities.

The Role

At Veeva Link, we're building the intelligence layer for life sciences, creating connected data applications that accelerate drug development and significantly improve patient outcomes. Our core belief: combining the highest quality data with state-of-the-art software delivers immense value.

We believe execution matters most. Progress comes from speed, accuracy, and quality in what we build every day. Our engineering approach emphasizes clear product definitions leading to meticulous technical designs. We leverage a modern tech stack to deliver inherently reliable applications and a great user experience.

Our work spans two critical areas:

Data-Driven Insights

We develop sophisticated applications that map and understand global scientific and medical expertise, providing high-impact insights and AI-generated intelligence. Engineers here tackle complex data modeling, entity resolution, and advanced machine learning.

Intelligent Business Workflows

We engineer workflow applications powered by our data, using AI to find patterns and route information precisely. This involves designing scalable pipelines and intelligent automation.

Why Join Veeva Link?

Build products that create significant positive impact in global healthcare.
Work in an environment led by a CEO with an engineering background.
Work Anywhere means you can work in an office or at home on any given day.
Empowered Autonomy: Tech decisions are made within teams, giving engineers significant autonomy.
Collaborate with highly skilled teammates who take pride in achieving great outcomes. Excellence matters.

What You'll Do

  • This role is critical to the success of Veeva Link, as your work directly impacts the availability, scalability, and security of applications that serve the life sciences industry. You'll play a foundational part in delivering our mission with speed, reliability, and trust
  • This role offers an exciting opportunity to solve complex, high-impact infrastructure challenges within the AWS ecosystem, directly contributing to a meaningful mission in life sciences. You'll collaborate across teams, innovating and making key decisions that shape the future of our platform
  • You'll execute by designing secure AWS infrastructure and leading incident response. You'll own core cloud-native systems by defining best practices. And you'll lead architecture reviews and initiatives for operational excellence
  • Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) as a core methodology, using tools like AWS CloudFormation to build, manage, and version our cloud environments, ensuring consistency and eliminating manual configuration
  • Partner directly with engineering teams to optimize system performance, troubleshoot issues, ensure high availability, and implement stringent security measures across all applications
  • Establish, document, and actively apply infrastructure patterns, architectural best practices, and coding standards, fostering a culture of excellence and consistency
  • Lead comprehensive architecture reviews, contribute directly to critical system design decisions, and evaluate new cloud tools and services to continuously enhance platform capabilities
  • Provide expert, hands-on support for incident response, conduct thorough root-cause analyses, and drive proactive system hardening efforts to maintain robust and secure production environments

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the software development industry, including 3+ years focused on cloud infrastructure or platform engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (e.g., EC2, VPC, RDS, IAM, S3)
  • Proficient in Python with a solid grasp of software design principles and automation best practices
  • Solid understanding of web application architecture and common distributed system patterns (e.g., microservices, APIs, load balancing, caching)
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure security, including IAM, encryption, and network architecture
  • Solid experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and container orchestration platforms (e.g., Amazon ECS, EKS)
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, preferably AWS CloudFormation
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) for schema management and troubleshooting
  • Experience managing production environments, including incident response and root-cause analysis
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with: OAuth, serverless (e.g., Lambda)
  • Familiarity with: ISO 27001, distributed tracing, penetration testing, queueing systems (e.g., SQS), CDNs

Work Where It’s Best for You

Work Anywhere means you can work in an office or at home on any given day. It’s about getting the work done in the way and place that works best for each person. This applies across all locations and departments.

Work Anywhere does not mean work at any time. We have predictable core hours where employees are generally available for meetings and collaboration. Employees are focused and available during core hours.

We invest in our offices to make them places where our employees like to go. If you work in the office three or more days a week, you will have a dedicated office workspace. Our offices function as hubs to draw people in, create social bonds, and where random connections and mixing of ideas happen. We’re investing more in offices, culture, and offsite meetings, not less.

Product teams are organized in regional product hubs for optimal collaboration and live within a time zone of their hub. Our current product hubs are located in Pleasanton, Columbus, Boston, Kansas City, New York City, Raleigh, and Toronto. We create opportunities for teams to get together in person regularly.

Customer-facing roles, such as Sales and Professional Services, live near and/or travel to their customers.

When an employee moves within a country it does not cause a change in salary. Where you live impacts you and your family. Not knowing if your compensation will change if you move can cause stress and uncertainty for everyone. We wanted to eliminate that.

Work at Veeva. Work where it’s best for you.
